Luftbilder Sandbänke Norderoogsand, Japsand, Süderoogsand | Die Sandbank ist berüchtigt für Schiffstrandungen; zwischen 1798 und 1922 wurden mehr als 50 Schiffsunglücke auf Süderoogsand registriert. In der Nähe der Bake wurden im Jahr 2012/13 drei Wracks freigelegt, darunter die spanische Bark Ulpiano aus dem Jahr 1870, sowie im Jahr 2018 ein niederländisches Schiff aus der Zeit um 1735. Im Februar 2022 wurden durch den Orkan Zeynep weitere Wracks freigelegt.
